New MicroInvasive Glaucoma Surgery comes to South Texas

Dr. Kavanagh our fellowship trained glaucoma specialist was the first doctor in South Texas to implant the Hydrus microstent by Ivantis. This new procedure for glaucoma is one of the MIGS (Micro-invasive Glaucoma procedures) that are less invasive than traditional glaucoma surgery. Sometimes these procedures can get patients off their glaucoma medications, that can be harmful to the ocular surface. Dr. Kavanagh is also an expert in Istent, Istent Inject, XEN gel stent, G6 Micropulse Cyclodestruction, Canoplasty, as well as the traditional glaucoma surgeries. He performs trabeculectomy and Ahmed Valve implantation as well.
