San Antonio Ophthalmologist implants PanOptix Trifocal Lens Cataract Surgery

Dr. Kavanagh ophthalmologist and eye surgeon was the first to implant the clear PanOptix lens by Alcon in two cities (San Antonio and Seguin Texas). This new intraocular lens implanted at the time of cataract surgery is a trifocal giving the majority of patients the opportunity to have binocular far, intermediate and near vision without the need for glasses. The lens was recently approved by the FDA but has been used with great success in Europe for the past few years. It is the market leader in presbyopia-correcting IOLs in many European markets.

The PanOptix intraocular lens is also available to correct astigmatism, this is the toric version of the IOL (intraocular lens). This is the only multifocal trifocal lens than can also correct astigmatism.

This new intraocular lens will be of great benefit to patients wishing to see at all distances without the aid of glasses. This surgery can be offered to patients with and without cataracts. A full evaluation to see if your a candidate for this new procedure is available at any one of our offices in Seguin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, La Vernia, Hondo, Castroville, Luling, and Lockhart. Please call 830-379-3937 to schedule a consultation.

Watch Dr. Kavanagh’s excellent surgery below on Youtube! The surgery is performed with Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA), this allows Dr. Kavanagh, the ophthalmologist to improve outcomes with the PanOptix lens during cataract surgery in San Antonio and surrounding cities. The surgery may be performed using a Femtosecond Laser, this may increase the accuracy of certain steps of the procedure but Dr. Kavanagh having performed over 20,000 cataract procedures is comfortable with manual and laser techniques.
