About this location: Eye Associates of South Texas- San Antonio-SouthBest Doctor San Antonio Kavaanagh

We are a state-of-the-art eye center in Bexar County. We have been serving the patients of San Antonio for over 20 years with first-class eye care.

We provide medical services as well as surgical services. We have four eye doctors who are also ophthalmologists and surgeons certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Drs. Acosta, Bui, Kavanagh, and Rodriguez. They are all trained and offer the most advanced cataract surgery, LASIK, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery. Over 25,000 cataracts were performed by our ophthalmologists.

We operate only in Seguin, San Antonio (3 locations), Hondo, and San Marcos ‘ best hospitals and surgical centers. All patients can have premium cataract surgery with advanced intraocular lenses (IOL) and cataract laser surgery. These new or advanced high-tech intraocular lenses allow the patient to see better most of the time without glasses. Our optometric team are all certified optometric glaucoma specialists: Drs. Hammadeh, Ckodre, Patel, Dulnig and Alanis. The optometrists work with our ophthalmologists for a truly collaborative eye care team.

Doctors from South Texas ‘ Eye Associates were among the first to adopt new techniques that are less invasive than older techniques in glaucoma surgery and enable faster recovery after surgery. These are called MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery). Dr. Kavanagh has a fellowship for glaucoma completed. Both Dr. Kavanagh and Acosta are Clinical Assistant Professors at the Department of Ophthalmology UT Health San Antonio.Dr. Kavanagh Eye Surgery

At the San Antonio South office, we have the latest diagnostic equipment, including Reichert Autorefractor, Humphrey Visual Field, Topcon Fundus Camera, and OCT, DGH Pachymeter. These enable our eye doctors to be on the cutting edge of eye exams and treatment.

If a cataract is diagnosed by your local optometrist or eye doctor, they can send you to us for cataract surgery. Then with your permission, we will work with your current eye doctor to obtain the best results of surgery, called surgery co-management. If you need a second opinion on your cataract or cataract surgery, we will be happy to provide you with our expertise.

Usually, cataract surgery is covered by your health insurance, but sometimes you may choose to upgrade to a premium procedure. The procedure will be made premium by using a laser for certain parts of cataract surgery and/or using advanced intraocular lens technology. It is your decision is to have a premium procedure! With one of our fantastic surgical counselors, we will teach you all your surgical options. Usually, your insurance covers basic cataract surgery. Doctors from Eye Associates have performed tens of thousands of these fundamental cataract procedures.

Our doctors are experts in cataract surgery, cataract laser surgery, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), LASIK surgery, and corneal transplant surgery. All our doctors manage glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration. Eyeglasses and contact lens can also be prescribed. We have dry eye centers in all our main locations with access to Bleph-ex, lipiflow, and IPL treatments.

Eyelid surgery can also be performed by all doctors. So if you have drooping or saggy eyelids or bags under your eyes, doctors may do surgery to lift your eyelid or remove the “bags” under your eyes. This results in a younger, less tired look and a better overall visual field.

With your eye emergencies, we are always ready to help you. Eye emergencies would include things such as pink eye, photophobia (light hurting eye), sudden vision loss or appearance of floaters, and foreign corneal body.

Most importantly, the eye doctors with South Texas Eye Associates are doctors, eye surgeons, optometrists, and ophthalmologists willing to help you achieve your goal of maintaining or achieving the best possible vision. We look forward to serving the people of San Antonio for many years to come.

Thank you,

Drs. Kavanagh, Acosta, Bui, Rodriguez, Ckodre, Alanis, Patel, and Hammodeh.
