About this Location: Eye Associates of South Texas SeguinBest Doctor San Antonio Kavaanagh

Welcome to Eye Associates of South Texas ‘ ophthalmology office: Seguin location. In Guadalupe County, we are a state-of-the-art eye center. For the past 18 years, we have provided the finest eye care to the residents of Seguin, Gonzales, San Marcos, Luling, La Vernia, Stockdale, New Braunfels, and McQueeny. The original location for Eye Associates of South Texas was Seguin, where the practice was formerly known as Eye Associates of Seguin.

We provide medical services as well as surgical services. We have three eye doctors who are also known as ophthalmologists and eye surgeons certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Drs. Acosta, Psolka, Kavanagh. They are all fellowship trained and provide the finest cataract, LASIK, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery right in the beautiful city of Seguin!

Over 25,000 cataracts have been successfully performed by our ophthalmologists. We operate at only the best hospitals and surgery centers in Seguin, San Antonio (2 locations), Hondo and San Marcos. All patients with cataracts will have the ability to have premium or advanced intraocular lenses (IOL) and laser cataract surgery. These new or advanced high technology intraocular lenses allow the patient to see better most of the time without glasses. All members of our optometric team are also optometric glaucoma specialists in Drs. Hammadeh, Ehiem, Jacob. Dr. Kavanagh is the only fellowship-trained glaucoma subspecialist in Guadalupe County. Together with our ophthalmologists, the optometrists work for a truly collaborative eye care team.

Eye Associates of South Texas’ doctors were among the first to adopt new techniques in glaucoma surgery, which are less invasive than older techniques and allow for faster recovery following surgery. Dr. Kavanagh is a glaucoma-trained fellowship.

Dr. Kavanagh Eye SurgeryIn the arena of surgical care, our doctors are experts in cataract, laser cataract, Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), LASIK and corneal transplantation. Our doctors also can manage glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and dry eyes. We have dry eye centers in all our main locations with access to Bleph-Ex, lipiflow and IPL treatments. If your eyelids are getting droopy we can fix that too, by an operation known as blepharoplasty.

In the office at Seguin, we have the latest diagnostic equipment including Spectral Domain OCT, Nidek IOL master, Zeiss and Oculus topographer, Humphrey Visual Field, Topcon and Nidek Fundus Cameras, A-B Scan, ERG, DGH Pachymeter, Endothelial Cell Counter, Tear Osmolality and Inflammadry. These enable our eye physicians to be on the cutting edge of eye exams and treatment.

Our optical is full-service which means you can choose from Seguin’s finest eyeglass frames and lenses. Our friendly and educated opticians are always willing to help. We offer Costa, Ray-Ban and Wiley X sunglasses.

If you are diagnosed with cataracts by your local optometrist or eye doctor, they will usually send you to us for cataract surgery. Then we will work with your current eye doctor to get the best surgical results, which is called surgical co-management.

If you need a second opinion on your cataract or cataract surgery, we will gladly provide you with our expert opinion. Your medical insurance usually covers cataract surgery, but sometimes you may choose to upgrade to a premium procedure. The premium procedure may include using a laser to perform certain parts of cataract surgery and/or using advanced intraocular lens technology. One of our fantastic surgical counselors will educate you on all your surgical options. After which the decision to have a premium or basic procedure is your choice! No high-pressure sales tactics at our office. You should know that your insurance usually covers basic cataract surgery. Tens of thousands of these basic cataract procedures have been performed by Eye Associates doctors.

Our doctors are experts in cataract, laser cataract, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), LASIK and corneal transplantation in the arena of surgical care. Glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease are all managed by our doctors. If you need routine eye care we do it all this includes prescribing glasses and contact lenses.

Eyelid surgery can also be performed by all our eye surgeons. So if you’ve got drooping or saggy eyelids or bags under your eyes, the ophthalmologists can do surgery to lift your eyelid or get rid of the “bags” found under your eyes. This results in a younger, less tired look, as well as improving your overall field of vision. This can be performed in our “in-office” operating suite.

With your eye emergencies, we are always ready to help you. Some examples of eye emergencies would be things such as a pink eye, photophobia (light hurting eye), sudden vision loss, sudden onset of floaters and corneal foreign body.

But most of all Eye Associates of South Texas doctors are eye surgeons, optometrists, and ophthalmologists willing to help you achieve your goal of maintaining or achieving the best possible vision. We look forward to serving the Seguin population for many years to come.

Thank you

Drs. Kavanagh, Acosta, Psolka, Hammodeh, Ehiem and Jacob.
